Top 5 Local Filipino Beauty Brands You Must Try Now

When I first started my quest for local beauty brands, one name that popped up is In Her Element. Upon further research, I found out that it’s the baby of Liz Lanuzo of projectvanity.com. Well, I’m all for supporting local brands, all the more if the local brand is ran by a fellow blogger! I don’t know her personally, but I’m so happy and proud of her success!

Anyway, so I was so excited when I saw that In Her Element products are available in BeautyMNL.com. I immediately placed my order of their two bestsellers –  Low pH Rose Gel Cleanser and Glow Job 5% Glycolic Gel Cream. Stay tuned for my in-depth beauty review of these two skin care products!

There’s no denying that Sunnies Face definitely broke the internet this year – and they were the game changer – at least in the local beauty scene. Everyone I know wanted to get their hands on their Fluffmatte lipsticks when they were first released a few months ago. It wasn’t easy getting hold one considering they’re always sold out!

So imagine my excitement when my order finally got delivered! The matte lipsticks have nice color pay off and they’re long-lasting. Next on my to-try list from this brand is their newest product line called Glowboss – a cream-to-powder multipurpose shimmer stick. Looks promising!

Messy Bessy is a line of natural, biodegradable, non-toxic home and personal care products. I think I first came into contact with this brand when I saw their stall in a mall. Their packaging reminds me of Benefit – very retro-ish and cute.

I tried their Bug Repellent spray and it worked wonders! This fresh smelling skin spray doubles as insect repellent that helps shoo flying or crawling insects! You see, I think maybe it’s cos of my blood type or something, but I always get bitten by insects… so this is definitely a lifesaver! Another product that I love from them is their hand sanitizer! It smells insanely good!

Simple, honest and uncomplicated. That’s what Beach Born is all about. I like their minimalist packaging, which kinda reminds me of Lush Cosmetics. I think they first started out with just one product – their Sea Salt Spray – and then grew their product lines.

Now they offer soaps, shampoo and conditioning bars, among others. Their Sea Salt Spray, an all-natural sea salt infused spray for beach waves, is the bomb! It’s also surprisingly very affordable at only Php185! What a steal!

Their tagline “luxury within your reach” is indeed true. Alexander Fragrance takes inspiration from famous perfume brands such as  Jo Malone, Bvlgari and Acca Kappa. Although it’s very affordable at only Php380 a pop, they definitely didn’t scrimp on quality! I could attest that this perfume lasts all day long!

My favorite is their Nectarine & Honey, which could pass as a dupe of Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey. I’m on my 2nd bottle already and would love to try other scents next time I’m in The Park (Shangri-La Plaza) or Retail Lab (Power Plant Mall).

I’m constantly searching for more homegrown brands to try, so if you have suggestions, feel free to share in the comments! You may also reach me via my contact form. That’s it for now! 🙂
