Staying upbeat, focused, and productive all week long can be difficult. Here are 5 ways to make you stay motivated and productive all week long. We all know juggling a full-time job and a family, not to mention errands and everything else you may have planned in a given week, can feel overwhelming. You may feel exhausted from the hectic schedule you have to manage.
Don’t fret though, as this is completely normal and happens to everyone at one point or another. The key is to take a deep breath, stay positive and find small ways to make your life easier and less stressful. Keep reading to find out some great ways to make you stay motivated and efficient every day.
5 Ways To Make You Stay Motivated and Productive All Week Long
Keep a Detailed Schedule
Having your daily, weekly and even monthly events planned out ahead of time can save you from so many headaches. It will also help relieve you of the stress that you may be forgetting something.
Buy a planner, calendar, or use a productivity app to make sure all of your bases are covered. This will also help you plan your free time during the day or week as well. Scheduling 30 minutes for “me time” is just as important as being punctual and organized.
Make a Morning Playlist
Morning wake-up calls every day can quickly become tiresome, especially when you are not typically an early-riser. By making a morning playlist with some of your favorite songs, you will be more energetic and ready to take on the day. Services like Spotify are great for making great playlists and finding music that you love. Do not be afraid to sing, dance and get moving before leaving for the long day ahead. It will surely keep you stay motivated in an instant.
Create a Daily Self Care Routine
Every once and a while you need to stop, take a deep breath, and reflect on your personal health and welfare. If you have a stressful career, a family to care for, and a house to run, you may feel as though the weight of the world is on your shoulders at times. Stress can play out in physical signs such as sudden hair loss, adult acne, or chronic fatigue. Do not let your anxieties control you, and do not be afraid to reach out to your support system or even to a professional therapist if you feel you need guidance.
Don’t neglect or put off what your body is trying to tell you. Making little tweaks here and there to your daily routine is a great start when creating a self care routine. These tweaks might include finding thirty minutes in your day to exercise, incorporating a shampoo that helps control overly-shedding hair, or finding a skin care routine that targets your specific skin concerns.
Reward Yourself
I’m sure you have heard the old saying “working for the weekend” at some point in your life. So many people come to work every day with this mentality and count down the minutes until they finally get to go home. This is a counter-productive mindset, as it promotes a glass-half-empty perspective that will keep you from succeeding.
To help this, be sure to reward yourself for your hard work. Try to include this simple trick in your many ways to make you stay motivated. Use your lunch break to read a new book, or schedule a fun Netflix and chill during the week to have something to look forward to as a small gift to yourself. Life is full of simple pleasures and there is no reason you should not be taking advantage of them.
Pre-Plan Meals
Before the start of each week, figure out what you will eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. This will take the hassle out of trying to put together meals last minute, allow you to meal prep for yourself and/or your family, and gives you one less stress to worry about. Pre-portioning servings and making healthy foods will also keep you from ordering fast food during the week as well as skipping meals.
Try buying a new cookbook, watching how-to videos on making healthy dishes, or try variations of your favorite recipes to change things up. I like using the app called Yummly to search healthy recipes that are easy to recreate! Find time every week to sit down and plan each meal accordingly to fit your unique schedule. It can save time, money and a lot of stress.

Such great tips, Hazel! I think having a very set morning routine is what keeps me in check working from home (when you can get so all over the place really fast:)) I defiantly start my morning with coffee and a playlist:) my good energy first of the morning right now is Juice (Harry styles version). What I need to do better with is a meal plan. I know it will make my week run more smoothly but somehow I never get around to the planning part. Thanks
Hi Madi, glad you find these tips useful! Good luck with the meal planning part! You’ll get the hang of it hopefully soon! 🙂
Great tips! I try to do most of them, but for the morning playlist I think. I tried out the Tomato Timer for work during lockdown and found it really helped with my productivity: https://anneliesexplores.wordpress.com/2020/05/03/week-7-in-quarantine-7-things-to-do/
Hi Annelies, thank you for sharing that! I’ll check it out!
The one thing I haven’t done is make a morning playlist. I think I’ll have to give it a try!
Hi, Cassie! Yes you definitely should make a morning playlist! It sets the mood for the day. 🙂
This is an awesome list of tips, especially that almost everyone is WFH. And let’s not kid around here, it’s so easy to get derailed with schedule with so many distractions present at home, right? Maybe I’ll just add daily/regular meditation. It has helped me refocus amidst all the anxiety. Stay safe!
Reward yourself lang yung na-check sakin. Pero feel ko naman lagi akong motivated hahaha. Pero kailangan nga talaga na may detailed guide ka para focus ka pa rin sa mga dapat gawin. Ako kasi mabilis madistract eh
Thanks for the tips! I am also using my notepad app on my phone to pit all my to do list lol. Also having a good playlist helps a lot
I’m doing all of them right now! I’d like to add having a morning devotion. It keeps me at peace and makes me feel good in the morning.
I haven’t done any of this. Took note of your tips ha. I’ll try and practive one at a time. Thank you.
You are right! I should make a morning playlist, too! 🙂 I’ll make one now on Spotify! Music makes a big difference!
First, I’d like to commend you for the cute yet catchy graphics you used here!
Love everything on the list. As someone who is working from home and at the same time attending to our family’s needs, I feel the episodes of stress on my shoulders. Reading this helped me internalize and reflect that it’s a matter of balance and prioritization. Don’t drag yourself working too hard; leave some space to recognize what makes you happy. Cheers!
i think im good naman. na like i take a rest once in a while. i have fun and i reward myself.. preplanned food lang wala ako nga nga in that levels eh
Now, the pre-planning meals is kind of genius and I super thank you for the app as well. I’ll always be mad when I go downstairs and find no food at the table. I’ll be so mad at my dad and he’ll be like “you can cook your own food. You’re an adult” huhuhu. But I’m a baby tho. Huhuhu
Hello again Hazel! What a great read! I needed this especially now na humuhirap mag cope. Ang dali lang din Kasi maging lost and depressed ngayon. Ang daming kailangan gawin and during this time I love reading this type of stuff. It gives me hope. For me, the planner reallys works. It shows me what to look forward to 🙂
Of all you’ve mentioned, the most effective for myself is “rewarding yourself”. I feel so much motivation when I get something for myself, simple things like new lipstick, new home decor, and it feels amazing.
Morning playlists can really help a lot, and I can attest to that! I cannot start my morning the right way whenever I don’t play my playlist.
Hanggang keeping a daily schedule lang ako pero di ko nasusunod. Kaloka! HAHAHA 😀 Lately, I’m trying to get back on track dahil sa sobrang daming backlogs. I’m also trying to wake up early as possible, eat breakfast and workout but my mental health is just holding me back. Thank you Hazel for reminding me to on how to stay motivated all week. I’ll probably start on Monday na. HAHAHA ketamad ko talaga 😀
I felt I’ve been too busy the whole time I tend to forget taking care of myself. Will then have a self-care pampering tonight. Watch me. Haha
I really need these tips because I really need to manage my time especially now that I am a working mom. I also need to do the pre-plan meals for the week this time because I bring my own lunch at work.
Thanks for this! I do some of these things but not all and definitely need more help these days with motivation.
This is a fabulous post and something that I struggle with especially as I am working form home. It is so easy to get distracted. I especially love using a planner and the prepared and planned out meals is a wonderful idea as that is one of my struggles too….
Trust me, I really needed it because I have started staying tired anddemotivated these days!
I love all 5 tips! I will make a playlist and use it in the mornings! I believe it will set the tone for the whole day! As for scheduling, I mostly do it, though I could make a point on doing it every day
Great tips! I always feel a little lost when I face lack of motivation to work more. Thanks for posting I will try more of it
